The Kyrie Irving COVID-19 vaccine saga is hanging over the Brooklyn Nets as the 2021-22 season approaches. Irving hasn’t been vaccinated yet, so as of right now, he can’t practice or play when the Nets are at home.

Nets star Kevin Durant weighed in on the situation Wednesday, expressing his optimism that Irving will be part of the team and that the team “can do something special.” Brooklyn’s other star, James Harden, was asked about Irving on Thursday. Harden offered up similar sentiments.

The Nets are uniquely equipped to handle Irving missing half the season or more, if it comes to that.
