Shortly after the Canadiens started their noon-hour practise Wednesday in Brossard the club announced that defenceman Jakub Jerabek has been traded to the Washington Capitals in exchange for a fifth-round pick at the 2019 NHL Draft. Jerabek played 25 games with the Canadiens this season, posting 1-3-4 totals and a minus-1 while averaging 17:20 of ice time. Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin signed the 26-year-old defenceman to a one-year, US$925,000 contract last summer after he posted 5-29-34 totals in 59 games with Podolsk Vityaz in the KHL. Jerabek can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. Jerabek had been a healthy scratch for the last eight games with the Canadiens. Goalie Carey Price didn’t take part in Wednesday’s practice, taking a therapy day. Alex Galchenyuk also took a therapy day, while Andrew Shaw missed practice with the flu.
