The New York Islanders have come to terms with restricted free agent Thomas Hickey. Hickey made his National Hockey League debut with the Islanders last season playing in 39 games. The blue liners terms are set to be at 1.35 million. Drafted 4th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2007 entry draft, Hickey saw most of his playing time in the American Hockey League with the Manchester Monarchs scoring a total of 75 points and ending with a plus 24 rating. He was one of two players to play in all of Manchester’s 76 game schedule during the 2011/2012 season and second in team scoring. After 212 games with Manchester, an AHL All Star game appearance and maintaining the alternate captaincy, Hickey was placed on waivers by the Kings and the Islanders jumped at the chance and picked him up in January 2013. On February 21, 2013, Hickey tallied his first career NHL goal against the Montreal Canadiens in an overtime thriller at the Bell Centre.
