Second baseman Ian Kinsler, one of the core players whom Daniels wants to keep, acknowledged very preliminary discussions with the Rangers on a contract extension. Kinsler is receptive to the idea. "I want to be here, and I think they know I want to be here," said Kinsler, who participated in the club's holiday visit to Children's Medical Center of Dallas. "The thing I want them to know and the fans to know is I want to be a Ranger. I'm going to try to do whatever I can to stay a Ranger."
