The Carolina Hurricanes are working on a trade involving Justin Faulk that would send the veteran defenceman to the Anaheim Ducks, according to reports.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman first reported the news via Twitter, hinting that a contract extension with the Ducks would likely be in place should the deal go down.
Faulk, 27, is in the final-year of his contract, which comes with a $4.833 million salary cap hit, and appeared to have become more expendable after the Hurricanes signed defenceman Jake Gardiner to a four-year contract last week.
According to TFP Editor-in-Chief David Pagnotta, Faulk’s next deal could be worth north of $6 million, annually.
Hurricanes & Faulk discussed contract extension back in late-June, but those talks never got far. If there's an extension in play here with Ducks, expect his AAV to be higher than his current $6M salary. https://t.co/gepWMwMpdF— David Pagnotta (@TheFourthPeriod) September 9, 2019
