It’s been a long couple months, hasn’t it? But back in those early days of self-isolation, little did we know just how much we’d still see of the day-to-day actions of our favourite players. Spoiler alert: hockey players get just as bored as us regular people. Without their sticks and gloves to keep them busy, they’ve had to get a little creative with how they fill their days.

From dancing and dog tricks to Whisper Challenges and the Toosie Slide, this is how the NHL’s top players are spending their time in isolation.

Alexander Ovechkin, Washington Capitals

Ovi has been all over Instagram in recent weeks, inviting followers to watch everything from his workout sessions to quality playtime with his toddler son, Sergei. But it’s this FaceTime “chat” the Russian superstar shared with a furry four-footed friend that helped lessen those self-isolation blues.

Patrick Marleau, Pittsburg Penguins

It’s impossible not to smile watching Patrick Marleau and wife Christina struggle through a round of Jimmy Fallon’s “Whisper Challenge.” From a headphone-wearing Marleau yelling at the top of his lungs to Christina’s mounting exasperation, this is the kind of quality entertainment we need right now. (Also, can we give this family their own show already?)
