The Houston Texans waived former Alabama standout Brad Smelley on Tuesday, leaving Jay Prosch from Auburn as the only fullback on the NFL team's roster. The Cleveland Browns selected Smelley as a tight end in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He ended up on the Browns' practice squad until being activated on Dec. 10, 2012. The Browns released Smelley at the end of the 2013 preseason, and he was out of football until the Texans signed him for their practice squad as a fullback in December. Ten days after signing, Smelley joined Houston's active roster. Smelley played two games for the Browns in 2012 and two games for the Texans in 2013.
