Crying time is over, Broncomaniacs. No more moping about what could've been. Denver is listed by Vegas bookmakers among the favorites to win the next Super Bowl. But the Broncos won't get there unless they improve. Here's a wish list at positions where Denver needs to get better. Running back: The Broncos might play faster, but at age 58, coach John Fox is too old to change his basic football philosophy. With the lead in the fourth quarter, he wants to run the ball and the clock. If Eddie Lacy of Alabama were carrying the rock against Baltimore in the playoffs, there would be another gleaming Lombardi in franchise owner Pat Bowlen's trophy case. But will Lacy be on the board when the Broncos choose at No. 28 in the first round? Don't count on it. Here's one crazy alternative: In the fourth round, take a flier on Marcus Lattimore, shredded knee and all. Offensive guard: If your Super Bowl hopes rest on aging Peyton Manning, then nothing is more important than quarterback protection. Move offensive tackle Orlando Franklin inside to guard and he can be a perennial Pro Bowler. But if North Carolina guard Jonathan Cooper somehow slides down the opening-round board to the Broncos, his selection would be a no-brainer.
