Dwyane Wade's first absence of the season comes not for rest or a maintenance program, but rather for what the Miami Heat are listing as personal reasons.

Wade has played as a sixth man this season, appearing in each of the first nine games before the announcement of Wednesday's absence against the San Antonio Spurs at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Wade, 36, is coming off an 18-point performance in Monday's overtime victory over the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena.

With Wade's absence and with James Johnson and Dion Waiters still not available following surgeries, the Heat recalled two-way forward Duncan Robinson from their developmental-league affiliate, the G League Sioux Falls Skyforce.
