The White House announced Tuesday that the Miami Heat will make an encore championship appearance with President Obama next Tuesday at 2:45 p.m. Not only will President Obama commemorate the Heat's 2013 NBA championship, but while at the White House, the Heat will visit wounded warriors from the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The Heat play the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center the following night. A year ago, on Jan. 28, 2012, in the wake of the Heat winning the franchise's first championship with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh as teammates, Obama introduced the Heat as, "a little up-and-coming basketball team." In those comments, he continued, "This team traveled a long road to get to where they are. In 2011, the Heat got all the way to the Finals only to come up short. But when you fall, the real test is whether you can ignore the naysayers, pick yourself up and come back stronger. And that's true in basketball, but it's also true in life. That's exactly what these guys did."
