The Miami Heat on Wednesday named advance scout Pat Delany coach of their affiliate in the NBA Development League. The Heat also announced that Adam Simon has been named general manager of the Skyforce. Simon will continue to hold the title director of player personnel with the Heat. The Heat recently purchased control of basketball operations of the Sioux Falls (S.D.) Skyforce giving them the opportunity for the first time to name the coach and general manager of their D-League affiliate. Delany becomes the Skyforce's 16th head coach after spending the past 11 seasons in various roles with the Heat. Delany who served as an advance scout the past six seasons was an assistant coach for the Heat's summer-league entries in Orlando and Las Vegas in July coaching the team in its final game of the Orlando summer league. He also served as the Heat's video coordinator from 2003 to 2007 following one season as a video intern. Prior to joining the Heat Delany was a video intern for the Boston Celtics in 2002. He also has served as an instructor at basketball camps at North Carolina Notre Dame Saint Anselm College and Christian Brothers Academy. Simon is entering his 19th season with the Heat third as director of player personnel. He served the Heat's director of college/international scouting from 2004 thru 2011. He was promoted to scout/director of college scouting during the 2003-04 season after serving as a scout in 2002-03. He served as scouting coordinator during 2001-02 after serving as basketball operations administrative assistant from 1997 to 2001.
