The high expectations for the Boston Celtics’ season are lower now in the eyes of Las Vegas oddsmakers, and, conversely, the path to the NBA Finals for a fourth consecutive year got a lot easier for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics were among the favorites to win the NBA title at +1000 and the Eastern Conference at +225, but their odds dropped to +2000 to win the title and +600 to win the East at the Westgate SuperBook after star wing and new addition Gordon Hayward broke his leg and fractured his ankle in Game 1 of the season Tuesday night in Cleveland. The Cavs were -200 faves to win the East and are now listed at -300 to make a fourth straight NBA Finals appearance. Oddmakers also shifted the odds to win the Eastern Conference for the next tier of teams below Boston. The Washington Wizards went from +1500 to +800, the Toronto Raptors went from +2000 to +1600 and the Milwaukee Bucks moved down to +1600 from +2000.
