The Red Wings could not muster enough offense against the Bruins Saturday losing the game 2-0 and also backup goalie Jonas Gustavsson who injured his groin in his first start in Joe Louis Arena. "With most of this lineup for two nights we haven't scored a goal" Mike Babcock said referring to a 2-0 loss to the Blackhawks Tuesday with a roster that was substantially the same as Saturday’s. "We don't move the puck very good from the back so it's kind of a grindfest out there" he said. "I didn't think we were good enough... We turned the puck over a ton. So practice tomorrow." The loss evened the Wings record at 2-2 in the exhibition season. The game was scoreless until 18:56 of the second period when the Bruins got loose behind too many Red Wings and harried Gustavsson. With a dramatic cross-crease move his legs splayed Gustavsson managed to get to the puck. But he could not stop it. Carl Soderberg had scored with an assist from Chris Kelly. Gustavsson suffered the injury performing the splits and did not play in the third period. Soderberg scored again 41 seconds into the third. He collected a rebound off Petr Mrazek the rookie who replaced Gustavsson in goal for the Wings on a strong shot by defenseman Dennis Seidenberg.
