The Canes announced Friday that they have greed to terms with goaltender Daniel Altshuller on a three-year, entry-level contract. The deal will pay Altshuller $625,000 at the NHL level or $70,000 at the American Hockey League (AHL) level in the first year, $675,000 in the NHL or $70,000 in the AHL in the second year, and $725,000 in the NHL or $70,000 in the AHL in the third year. He will also receive a signing bonus of $240,000. “Daniel has put together a nice junior career for Oshawa,” Ron Francis, vice president of hockey operations, said in a statement. “He is an important part of our goaltending picture for the future.” Altshuller, 19, is tied for first in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in wins (20) and is third in the league in goals-against average (2.48) and save percentage (.920) in 29 games for Oshawa.
