When Semyon Varlamov is in the crease, Avalanche backup goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere? is like an extra coach on the bench. The 2007 Stanley Cup champion and 2003 Conn Smythe Trophy winner as playoff MVP sees what the Avs are doing, good and bad, and he's pretty sure he knows what's wrong with a team that has won just once in 10 games against division opponents. "We're shooting ourselves in the foot by not keeping the game simple, and because of that, we're making too many mistakes," Giguere said. "Everybody has to look in the mirror, starting (today), come to the rink, be prepared, have a good practice. Everything starts with practice, good habits. And if you have any questions about the game plan or our systems are, don't be afraid. Go ask the coach. And come next game, keep it simple."
Giguere sees myriad ways Avalanche can improve
