Don’t expect the Giants to draft Justin Herbert.

If the Giants are trying to gain leverage for a potential trade back from the No. 4 pick in Thursday’s NFL Draft by showing interest in quarterback Justin Herbert, the rest of the league isn’t buying it.

“It’s a smokescreen that isn’t working,” a current NFL talent evaluator tells NJ Advance Media. “They desperately want someone to trade up, but the interest just isn’t there.”

Last spring, the Giants had an interest in Herbert before he opted to return to Oregon for his senior season. Monday, the NFL Network reported the Giants have spent significant time researching Herbert this spring, including FaceTime conversations and virtual meetings with new head coach Joe Judge.
