The Georgia Tech basketball team has landed its third transfer of the offseason. Friday, it was former Alabama forward Nick Jacobs. At Alabama, the 6-foot-8 Jacobs averaged 8.4 points and 3.5 rebounds this past season before taking an indefinite leave of absence from the team in mid-February. Over his career, he averaged 7.3 points on .526 field-goal percentage with 3.8 rebounds. Jacobs, a South Atlanta High grad who played with former Tech standout Derrick Favors, said that being able to play home games close to home was a big factor. He also said that Tech’s offense, which places a high value on getting the ball into the post, was better suited for him. “I feel like my game fits Georgia Tech because I’m a banger and then at times I can step out and shoot it or drive it past a bigger defender or a mismatch,” Jacobs said.
