After quarterback Jake Fromm performed well in Georgia’s G-Day Game in April, there were some who wondered if the true freshman would force a competition for the starting job between he and sophomore Jacob Eason. Head coach Kirby Smart answered that question at SEC Media Days on Tuesday, declaring Eason to be the clear-cut starter with fall camp set to begin next month. “Jacob Eason is our starter going into the season. Jake Fromm’s got to do something to beat him out,” Smart said according to Edward Aschoff of ESPN.com. “Very similar to a lot of positions. You’ve got to beat them out. But we’re very excited about both of them. Including Brice (Ramsey), we have three talented players.” While Eason threw for more yards in the G-Day Game, Fromm was more efficient, completing 14 of his 23 attempts for 277 yards and two touchdowns.
