The reported $240 million deal Jay Z landed for free-agent second baseman Robinson Cano on Friday was just the first good news of the day for the rapper/agent. The NFLPA has determined that Jay Z's sports management company, Roc Nation Sports, followed the rules and legally recruited quarterback Geno Smith as a client last spring, per an official familiar with the case. Jay Z and Roc Nation came under question after associate Kim Miale, an NFLPA certified contract advisor, wound up signing Smith and some questioned whether Jay Z had been permitted to recruit him. Smith, a second-round draft pick this year, eventually signed a four-year contract with the New York Jets.
