The MRI on Matt Garza on Monday showed a mild left lat strain, according to general manager Jed Hoyer. That's good news for the Cubs, and means Garza will be back in time to be stretched out for the start of the season. Hoyer said the strain is where the lat and oblique muscle meet on his left side. "We're probably going to let him rest for about a week, make sure he's pain-free, at which point he can ramp back up his throwing," Hoyer said."I think it's safe to say it pushes back his first Cactus League start. But what it means for the regular season, it's clearly much too early to say. But we felt like it was really good news it's just a mild strain.... Matt is in good spirits. He felt much better (Monday).
