Wales captain Gareth Bale says he is on course to be fully fit for the Qatar World Cup in November.

The 33-year-old has made 11 appearances since signing for Los Angeles FC this summer and has scored two goals during that time.

While he has only made two starts during those appearances for the MLS side, he insists he will be ready for Wales’ first match of the tournament against the USMNT on November 21, with the forward following a specific fitness programme to help him along the way.

He said: “We have a plan in LA with what we’re doing.

“We’re not doing too much straight away.

“Every footballer wants to play as much as they can, but we’re being clever and building myself up for the last important part of the season.
