South Carolina first-year coach Shane Beamer announced Tuesday that starting quarterback Luke Doty is out for the rest of the Gamecocks' 2021 college football season with a foot injury. Doty re-aggravated the issue over the weekend in South Carolina's 21-20 win over Vanderbilt. Doty, who missed time in September after he hurt his foot during preseason training camp, was noticeably hobbled on the move over four starts this season.

"Like I said the other night, he re-injured his foot. … he will be done for the year," Beamer said Tuesday, via TheBigSpur. "He’s going to have surgery this week,” Beamer said. “That’s the best thing for him, short-term and long-term, to get this thing healed up."

Beamer did not have a timeline for Doty's return or if he will be at full strength for spring practice in 2022.
