Arsenal appear to have swooped in late to snatch Gabriel Magalhaes away from their Premier League rivals.
The Gunners entered the scene late for the Lille defender, 22, announcing their interest earlier this week.
But despite months of interest from the likes of Manchester United, Everton and Napoli - it appears Magalhaes wants a move to Arsenal.
French outlet La Voix du Nord report that the north London club have taken great steps towards securing a deal in recent hours.
Magalhaes is said to have spoken with Arsenal chiefs earlier this week and clearly liked what he heard from those at the top.
The youngster is reportedly keen to join as quickly as possible, with a move potentially set to materialise in the coming days.
However, La Voix du Nord claim United are not out of the race just yet.
The Red Devils apparently haven't had their final say, according to the French publication.
The defender will command a fee of around €27m (£24.3m) up front and €2m (£1.8m), which United have apparently offered in recent days.
