One of the most trying seasons in Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher’s tenure has endured another devastating blow. Florida State junior running back Jacques Patrick, a former Orlando Timber Creek High standout, will be out for the season with a knee injury, Fisher confirmed on Monday. Patrick suffered the cartilage tear during FSU’s 31-28 loss to Louisville last Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium that dropped the Seminoles to 2-4 this season. Patrick had an MRI Sunday that revealed the injury, which will require surgery this week. The Seminoles will now turn to true freshman Cam Akers to start at running back in place of Patrick, a player who provides the Seminoles with a lot of knowledge and experience, Fisher said. “That’s a big thing you have to replace with him, and that’s why I was so happy and I’ve been bragging on him so much,” Fisher said. “Not just the runs which we all see, but the team aspect and him being a team leader and the things he’s been doing.
