Frenkie de Jong has indicated his his desire to follow in Lionel Messi's footsteps at Barcelona , but says he's "not sure" he wants to agree to a Nike request over what his shirt will look like in Catalonia.

Dutch international De Jong, 21, joined Barca in a £65million deal in January, and will link up with the club in the summer after he's seen out the season at Ajax.

His arrival at the club is being hugely anticipated at the Nou Camp - with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu confirming that De Jong's signing is part of a strategy to help the club prepare for life after Messi.

And the youngster is using the Barca icon as a reference point already, touching on the details of the transfer with Dutch publication Het Kontakt .
