Penn State is closing the gap with Ohio State for the No. 1 spot in the 2022 college football recruiting rankings, solidifying its spot at No. 2 in the country with the commitment of four-star safety Cristian Driver.  Driver, the son of former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver, chose the Nittany Lions over a group of finalists that included Oklahoma, Texas and Oregon live on Thursday afternoon on CBS Sports HQ.

Surrounded by family and friends what happens to be his birthday, Driver explained how he believes he can contribute on offense or defense at the next level and spent some time explaining how grateful he was to the high school coaches at Liberty Christian, the influence of his parents and more before unzipping a jacket to reveal a Penn State shirt underneath.

CBS Sports HQ's Chris Hassel pointed out that James Franklin was the wide receivers coach in Green Bay for Cristian's father for one season, and Cristian went on to describe a relationship that's gone back long before the recruiting process where Franklin believed in his abilities.
