Former Nebraska safety Cam'ron Jones has transferred to SMU, he told 247Sports on Wednesday.
"I chose SMU because not only can they offer great football, but it's a great education with a strong and successful alumni base," Jones said. "The staff is great and can make things happen in Dallas. I also want to be close to home so my family can watch me."
A four-star safety from Mansfield, Texas in the 2018 class, Jones initially entered the transfer portal on April 26. Injuries prevented Jones from playing as a true freshman and he took a redshirt year. Jones slotted as the No. 289 overall player in the 247Sports Composite and ranked as the Huskers' fourth-highest overall signee that cycle.
