Former Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista is unhappy with the free agent offers he has received this off-season and could retire as a result, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports. The 37-year-old Bautista has been offered a few seven-figure contracts this winter, reports Heyman, who estimates they were in the neighbourhood of $1 million. But the slugger did not think the deals were “commensurate with his value” and may choose to end his career. Bautista earned $18 million last season, but after he struggled through a terrible campaign, the Blue Jays declined to pick up their side of his $17-million mutual option for 2018.
