Five-star defensive lineman Mykel Williams has committed to USC, he announced via Instagram on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-5, 265-pound Williams is ranked No. 26 in the Class of 2022 and No. 3 in the state of Georgia, according to the 247Sports Composite Rating. The Hardaway High School prospect tallied 20 tackles for loss and 12 sacks in 2020.
Williams was also interested in Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Alabama and Georgia.
What does Williams bring to USC?
Ari Wasserman, senior recruiting writer: Simply put? Another elite-level talent on its roster. USC has done a nice job in Southern California, but the Trojans are always trying to fight off the big dogs like Georgia and Alabama for its local studs.
USC went on the offensive and got a commitment from a five-star prospect in the Peach State everyone expected to go to Georgia. That's recruiting at the highest level. Not just taking what is there for you, but going nationally and stealing coveted prospects from national powers.
