Real competition at QB: The Jets must bring in a veteran to challenge QB Mark Sanchez (above) for his starting job. Brady Quinn will hit the open market Tuesday and the Jets still could sign David Garrard, who hasn’t played a regular-season game since 2010. Keep their guard up: Both starters, RG Brandon Moore and LG Matt Slauson, are free agents. Moore is expected to depart, but Slauson could return. Vlad Ducasse, a second-round pick in 2010, could be promoted to a starting role. More belt ‘tightening?’ The Jets didn’t put a franchise tag on starting TE Dustin Keller, who suffered through an injury-plagued 2012 season. The Jets could re-sign restricted free agent Jeff Cumberland. Safety first, or maybe last: Starters LaRon Landry and Yeremiah Bell are free agents, and Landry’s price tag likely will be too high. Jets may be sifting for bargains here after the first wave of signings. Who stays? The Jets should try to re-sign DL Mike DeVito and WR Braylon Edwards, both of whom are good players and want to be with the team. But money issues could lead to most free agents leaving, including RB Shonn Greene.
