Derrick Favors is exceeding expectations. The 19-year-old rookie power forward acquired in the Deron Williams trade recorded 10 points on 3-of-5 shooting Saturday during the Jazz's 120-116 road loss to the Detroit Pistons. Favors is averaging 8 points and 2.5 rebounds in his first two games with Utah, and he has recorded at least 15 minutes during each contest. Favors' intensity, confidence and consistency are still issues. But after joining the team Wednesday surrounded by question marks, Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin has been impressed by the initial view. Corbin said that Favors is dealing with a lot: new team, new environment, heavy expectations. But the rookie has run the floor and passed well, and he hasn't been afraid to put up a shot when he is open, despite only going through a shootaround and a practice before making his Jazz debut Friday against Indiana.
Favors starts favorably
