New Red Sox manager John Farrell sat down with SportsNet Central's Jessica Moran at spring training in Fort Myers, Fla., to talk about how he'll change the culture in the clubhouse, among other topics. One thing Farrell said he learned from former Sox manager Terry Francona when he he served as Francona's pitching coach for four years was "whenever and issue arises, he handled it internally first." Can Farrell handle managing in Boston? Does he know what he's in for? "I stood by Tito and watched it for four years," he said. Farrell said he's going to be "as direct as possible" with the players. Last year, Sox manager Bobby Valentine was criticized for his lack of communication with players. For the complete Farrell interview, watch the attached video.
