A subject isn't really closed until the subject speaks, and Connor Cook did so today on not being voted an MSU captain. Before he did, MSU coach Mark Dantonio said at his news conference that Cook "drives the car, the truck, the train, pilots the plane, however you want to term it." Before that, the three guys who were voted captain – Jack Allen, Shilique Calhoun and Darien Harris – talked extensively last week about the leadership Cook provides as one of the 12 members of MSU's "eagles council" of leaders. Before that, I predicted he wouldn't be one of the three captains chosen (though I believe he was right there in the end). But people are going to wonder why a third-year starting quarterback isn't a captain. And yeah, Cook said today, it did disappoint him. Here are his full and very candid thoughts on the subject, which can probably be closed at this point.
