Upon making an appearance on PFT Live, Atlanta Falcons president and CEO Rich McKay made a point to note that the NFC South franchise expects to sign quarterback Matt Ryan to a longterm contract extension. However, it still remains to be seen as to when exactly such a pact comes into fruition. “It’s not something that I’d look for in the coming weeks, but it is something that we’ll work on,” McKay recently told NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk. “It will be a priority. We’ve already begun the discussion. Now, the question, when will that happen? These deals tend to have their own pace to them based on the sense of urgency on both sides, so I’m not going to give you a prediction.” Ryan will now be heading into the final season of his current five-year contract with the Falcons and is in line to count for $21.65 million against the salary cap in 2018-19.
