Graduate transfer quarterback Jack Sears has landed with Boise State, the Broncos announced Monday evening. He had been in the NCAA transfer portal since the fall, announcing on Aug. 27 an intention to leave USC after three years with the Trojans.
Initially, Sears appeared bound for San Diego State. The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Dec. 15 that he committed to the Aztecs. However, sources told 247Sports' Tom Loy more than one month later Jan. 26, Sears was considering all options after SDSU head coach Rocky Long stepped down Jan. 8.
San Diego State replaced Long with Brady Hoke. While Sears was "very comfortable with Hoke," according to Loy, the coaching turnover caused him to re-evaluate his final decision.
