Thomas Muller has paid tribute to his Germany international team-mate Kai Havertz, describing the reported Liverpool and Newcastle United target as an ‘extremely good player’ in conversation with Sky Sports.

The Bayern Munich legend is something of an outlier in modern football, a player so unique that the term ‘raumdauter’ was coined by him and for him.

But if there is one man who can be compared to the often incomparable Muller, it is Havertz.

The Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid shares that all-too rare ability to float between the lines at will, an ethereal, otherworldly presence with a ruthless streak which marks him out as a generational talent.

Havertz has been in remarkable form since the Bundesliga returned in May, scoring 15 times and producing a further eight assists for Peter Bosz’s free-flowing team.
