Former Miami quarterback Jake Garcia is transferring to Missouri and is expected to enroll this week, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. Garcia entered the portal earlier this week and did not take long to decide. A former four-star prospect, Garcia ranked No. 116 nationally, No. 16 at quarterback and No. 12 in the state of Georgia overall as a member of the Class of 2021. He was set to compete in a quarterback competition after Tyler Van Dyke struggled this past season.
Garcia attempted the second-most passes for Miami this season after Van Dyke, completing 59.1% of his throws for 803 yards and five touchdowns against three interceptions. Brown completed 60% of his passes for three touchdowns against three picks, and he also ran for 223 yards as more of a dual-threat option.
Following the season's conclusion, Miami coach Mario Cristobal praised Garcia when breaking down the Hurricanes' backup quarterbacks.
