Everton are lining up a move for Tottenham and England winger Andros Townsend. Roberto Martinez was keen to take the 22-year-old speedster to the Toffees on loan last summer but was rebuffed by Spurs. Now Martinez, also in the hunt for QPR striker Loic Remy and linked with Swansea forward Wilfried Bony, is set to return for Townsend. His interest matches that of Alan Pardew, who has targeted the player for Newcastle. Townsend is keen to remain at White Hart Lane, but has tumbled down the pecking order since last autumn, when he played a key role in sealing England’s place at this summer's World Cup. Aaron Lennon has played ahead of him in the season just ended, while record signing Erik Lamela is set to be reintegrated into the first-team picture in 2014-15. Townsend has been a frustrated fringe player since the now-sacked Tim Sherwood replaced the axed Andre Villas-Boas as manager in December. He last started a Premier League game on March 16 in the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal. An ankle injury picked up after he came on late in the win at Stoke last month, has ruled him out of the England squad for the World Cup.
