Everton have rejected an opening offer from Chelsea for forward Anthony Gordon, according to reports.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park after he enjoyed a breakout season under Frank Lampard, scoring four times and grabbing two assists in all competitions last term. He was a bright spark in a very underwhelming Everton side, who finished 16th after escaping relegation in their final home match.

Chelsea are in the market to strengthen their attack and have had a bid of around £40million knocked back by the Toffees. It is understood Everton are holding out for a minimum of £50m, which was the price they quoted Tottenham and Newcastle for the winger earlier this summer transfer window.
