Marco Silva says he was "surprised" at suggestions Theo Walcott could be axed this summer.

The 30-year-old winger has fallen down the Everton pecking order in recent weeks and doubts persist over his long-term future at the club.

Everton are set on improving their options on the right wing with a number of emerging talents -  including Lille's Rafael Leao - being discussed as potential targets.

The Blues' summer transfer policy was also outlined by director of football Marcel Brands recently in which he said the club would only invest heavily in players aged 20-25/6.

Walcott has been restricted to cameos off the bench in the last four matches with Silva preferring Richarlison on the right wing.
