Carlo Ancelotti is preparing a raid on former club Napoli having reportedly opened negotiations with midfielder Allan over a potential summer transfer. Allan has been seen as a key part of Napoli's midfield over the past few years and was a favourite under Ancelotti prior to his sacking in December last year.
Gennaro Gattuso was announced as Ancelotti's successor but Allan has fallen out of favour under the 2006 World Cup winner.
He still has three years left on his contract but there has been growing speculation that he could be set to leave Napoli this summer.
Everton have been strongly linked with a potential summer move, but there has been reported competition from teams such as Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid among others.
The Toffees have the difficulty of not being able to promise Champions League football as they currently sit 11 points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea in the table.
