Just days after the failed fax heard 'round the football world, Broncos coach John Fox said defensive end Elvis Dumervil is still "in the mix" to return to the team. Dumervil was released Friday after his signed, renegotiated contract did not arrive to the Broncos' Dove Valley complex before a 2 p.m. deadline. Dumervil is currently a free agent, and the Broncos have talked to both Dumervil and his new representative — CAA — about a potential deal to return. The Pro Bowl defensive end was just one of many topics Fox covered in a 57-minute morning sit-down Tuesday at the NFL owners' meetings. "At the end of the day, they waited and it didn't happen," Fox said of the failed renegotiation with Dumervil. "... It's one of those things that just happens, sometimes unfortunate things happen and now we'll move on. "He's definitely in the mix. He's a player I know I've enjoyed coaching, he's done good things for our staff, defensively, our football team. He's definitely a guy who is in the mix for us, will be in the mix, should be in the mix. And we'll see where that takes us." The Ravens are among the suitors for Dumervil, along with the Broncos, in a market where most of the big-money contracts have already been handed out. Fox also addressed the Broncos' signing of wide receiver Wes Welker, saying he looked forward to a three-wide receiver set that included Welker, Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker with Peyton Manning at quarterback.
