Shortstop Elvis Andrus had a pair of steals on Sunday to raise his season total to 37 matching his career high. It also put him within 10 of Ian Kinsler for the all-time Rangers career lead. Kinsler who currently has 170 surpassed Bump Wills earlier this year. Andrus has been successful in all 10 attempts against Los Angeles this year. It is the most by a Rangers player ever against the Angels. Andrus has four more games remaining against Los Angeles this season. He is one of six players to ever reach double figures in steals in a season against the Angels. Amos Otis holds the mark with 14. The steals also put Andrus within striking distance of the first 40-steal season by a Ranger since 1995 when Otis Nixon stole 50. “I’m trying to run a little smarter now than when I got 37 before [in 2011]” Andrus said. “I’m not trying to be the guy who gets on and automatically tries to steal. But when I get on I want to get in scoring position. Forty is a number I’ve always wanted to reach. It would be special if I could do that.”
