It has been more than a month since Blackhawks analyst Eddie Olczyk announced he was diagnosed with colon cancer, likely meaning he will miss part of the season in the booth as the lead Hawks and NBC hockey analyst. During Tuesday’s broadcast of the Hawks’ preseason game against Columbus, Hawks play-by-play broadcaster Pat Foley provided an update on Olczyk’s health, saying Olczyk was in for a tough road ahead. Foley said Olczyk recently had surgery and his treatment will require six months of chemotherapy. Olczyk said in statement in August he planned to return to the booth upon completing his treatment.
