East Carolina junior safety Daniel Charles has entered the NCAA transfer portal, sources tell Hoist The Colours.
Charles was set to enter his third year in the program after serving as the team's starting safety a year ago as a sophomore in the first year of the Mike Houston regime. But Charles was suspended indefinitely in February for off-the-field reasons earlier this year, leading to his entry in the portal.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound safety initially joined the program as a preferred walk-on prior to the 2018 season. He quickly made an impact in Scottie Montgomery's final year, playing in 12 games with 34 tackles and an interception, nabbing his first career pick at NC State in the season finale.
Charles started the first 11 games of the 2019 season before coming off the bench in the season finale.
