Philadelphia Eagles‘ new starting quarterback in Jalen Hurts has been turning heads in practice with his impressive performance under center. As a result, the team’s defensive rotation has been getting an earful from defensive Jim Schwartz for their failure to contain the rookie from making plays during practice.

Despite the defense’s lapses, Eagles safety Jalen Mills knows in himself that Hurts’ performance will only elevate the competition within the squad. He also noted that the 22-year-old has the ability to read in-game situations and know when to utilize his running ability and passing ability in certain scenarios.

“He would make some crazy throws on us, man,” Mills said via NBC Sports. “Some crazy throws. It’d have (Jim) Schwartz cussing us out, guys on the defense mad, pissed off. But that’s what you want. You want that competition on the other side of the ball.
