The Anaheim Ducks have acquired center Adam Henrique in a trade with the New Jersey Devils, both franchises have formally announced. The Ducks also received fellow center Joseph Blandisi and a conditional 2018 third-round NHL Draft pick in the deal. In exchange, Anaheim sent defenseman Sami Vatanen and a conditional third-round draft choice in either 2019 or 2020 back to the Devils. Henrique spent the first seven-plus years of his career in New Jersey and had developed into one of the team’s best and most consistent players. Through 24 games this season, Henrique has scored four goals while handing out 10 assists. However, the Devils felt Vatanen would provide more of what the surging Eastern Conference franchise needs at this current point in time.
