Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka is out for “several weeks” with a heel injury that will sideline him for the beginning of Newcastle United’s 2020/2021 Premier League season. This is an incredible blow to Newcastle United.

Newcastle has already suffered another injury at the opposite end of the field with Dwight Gayle going down with an injury. He, too, is expected to miss time.

Dubravka last season recorded 140 saves, 11 clean sheets, and conceded 58 goals. Widely regarded as the reason Newcastle can remain competitive in matches, he will likely be replaced for the time being by Karl Darlow who has been featured in the behind closed door friendlies.

This doesn’t just come as unfortunate news for Newcastle United, despite our devastation at Dubravka’s impending absence, Slovakia will be out its top keeper for the UEFA Cup of Nations.
