Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins and the representatives for WR Jarvis Landry are either already in preliminary talks regarding an extension right now or about to open discussions at some point in the near future. The Dolphins resisted negotiating with Landry this summer, even though he was entering the final year of his contract. Salguero explains that Miami wanted Landry to improve his professionalism and in his game preparation along with fitting in their receiver room. Beyond that, the Dolphins are obviously aware that DeVante Parker will need a new contract soon enough, so they wanted to be sure that signing Landry long-term was the right move for them. Salguero writes that while Landry managed to answer a number of questions the team had about him, Parker hasn’t lived up to expectations this year.
