Given the performance of running back Kenyan Drake thus far this season in a contract year, it’s pretty easy to assume that if Drake wants to get paid, he’ll have to do so elsewhere — right? Well, not exactly according to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson. Jackson wrote earlier this week on Drake’s standing with the Dolphins and reported that one source indicated that Miami has “shown interest in recent weeks” of extending Drake.
“A source with direct knowledge said the Dolphins actually have shown interest in recent weeks in giving Drake a contract extension beyond this season. There have been conversations between the Dolphins and Drake’s representation.” – Barry Jackson, Miami Herald
Such a decision would come as something of a surprise — but apparently the conversations between Drake and the Dolphins have been somewhat complex.
